Pedal the Preserves is an exciting cycling event, benefiting the Forest Preserve Friends Foundation. All levels of cyclists are welcome. This year, look for QR codes along the route and at stops to hear interesting insights about the Kickapoo Rail Trail, Homer Lake Forest Preserve, and Middle Fork River Forest Preserve.

Other important info to know:

  • KRT 2 to 12 mile: no route map, as this ride is entirely out-and-back on the Kickapoo Rail Trail
  • Day-of registration will be available at this location: https://g.co/kgs/SQDmnBS from 7am-9am on Saturday, August 17. Cash or check preferred, credit payment accepted.
    • Prices for day-of registration are as follows:
      • Kickapoo Rail Trail- Up to 12 Miles
        $15 (flat rate)
      • 20 Mile Route
        $60
      • 35 Mile Route
        $60
      • 69 Mile Route
        $60
      • 83 Mile Route
        $60
      • If you are already a registered PCC (Prairie Cycle Club Member), all of the above routes= 
        $45
    • Route maps will be printed and provided at the registration table at the above location.
    • T-shirt orders will also be taken day-of ($30/shirt) at the registration table. Cash or check preferred, credit accepted. See images below T-shirts offered in polyester or cotton fabric.
    • There is no option to register for camping on day-of registration.
    • Those already registered to camp (those who have pre-registered online) will choose either the 69 mile or the 83 mile Middle Fork route. For all campers, regardless of which route you choose, the Sunday morning ride back to Meier Field will be 26 miles.
  • Aid stations will be located at Homer Lake Walnut Point Shelter, Little Roch's restaurant in Royal, and the Middle Fork Activity Center.
