Get out and explore your local winter wonderland in search of snowflakes! We’ve hidden 40 creative snowflakes painted on tree slices throughout the Champaign County Forest Preserves. Snowflakes are hidden at Lake of the Woods, Homer Lake, Middle Fork River, Sangamon River, and River Bend Forest Preserves. Bundle up and find as many as you can! 
Take a picture of your finds and share them with us on our Facebook and Instagram pages using the hashtag #champaignforests. Download a checklist to help with the search at 2025 Snowflake Search. This year, we are incorporating elements of exploration via the Goosechase app!
Download the Goosechase app and complete fun missions to rack up points. Missions include snapping photos of the snowflakes you find and
answering trivia questions based on winter fun facts (scan the QR codes on smaller tree cookies to read the fact sheets).
